Ever since iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been released, a large number of iOS users or users from the other ecosystem have replace theri old phone with the shiny new one. As a high-tech fan, you must also want to go for it. However, before you upgrade, you must want to preserve all of your data and info on the new iPhone. For example, if you are using iPhone 6, how can you transfer from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 with everything you need? Those files might include contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps, games and settings and so on.
Luckily, there are ways for you to transfer data from old phone to new phone. And below are some common used or effective ways.
Method # 1: Transfer from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 via iTunes
1 Connect your existing iPhone to your PC or Mac via a USB cable, and iTunes should launch automatically, if it doesn’t, click the icon to open the app.2 In iTunes, click the name of your iPhone to select it. And then under “Summary”, click Backup Now to ensure your iPhone is backed-up on your computer.
3 Make sure you also select the “Encrypt iPhone Backup” option before backing up if you have Health and Activity data on your iPhone, and want this information transferred over to the new device.
Note: You’ll know if your backup finished successfully by looking under the Backups tab and seeing the current date and time of the last backup.
4 When you get your new iPhone 7, swipe left to right on the “Hello” screen and follow the steps until you see the Apps & Data screen, and then tap Restore from iTunes Backup.
5 Connect your new iPhone to the computer you used to backup your previous iPhone 6, and then in the iTunes on your computer, select your device and click Restore Backup. If you’re restoring from an encrypted backup, enter your password when prompted.
Method # 2: Transfer from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 via iCloud
Once your iPhones are connected with Wi-Fi, you can backup your iPhone 6 to iCloud.1 Connect your iPhone 6 to the Internet over Wi-Fi, then tap on the gray Settings icon and then tap iCloud, and then Backup. Make sure “iCloud Backup” is turned on. Now tap “Backup Now.”
2 On your new iPhone 7, you’ll see a “Hello” screen. Get it connect your Wi-Fi network.
3 Follow the setup steps and when you see the Apps & Data screen, tap Restore from iCloud Backup.
4 Sign into iCloud with your Apple ID and start restoring backup to the iPhone 7.
