5 Methods to Fix iPhone Won’t Backup to iCloud Error

Have you ever come across such a situation when your iPad or iPhone won’t backup to iCloud? This is a common problem with which most of the iOS users are confronted. Do you know how this error message comes or why it just shows up on your iPhone screen? The reasons are various but can be classified into two categroies: network and iCloud storage.

If you set up the automatic backup on your iPhone, it will automatically backup to iCloud at night. But there are conditions: your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and the iPhone is on locked screen. So if there is something wrong with the network, your iPhone won’t backup to iCloud. Besides, iCloud offers each Apple user 5 GB storage for free, which means if the backup reaches the limit, it will stop backing up.

The above reasons could also lead to an issue of “the last backup could not be completed” while you are trying to backup your iOS device to iCloud. Nevertheless, you can fix these issues through some utility methods. And below I will show you 5 ways to fix iPhone won’t backup to iCloud issue.

1 Fix Internet Network

Because backing up iPhone to iCloud requires stable network condition, you should make sure the Wi-Fi you use is working. So you can check the Wi-Fi or connect to another Wi-Fi network. If this is the cause, then you solve the problem.

2. Sign out and Sign in again to your iCloud Account

Sometimes the account could be the reason why iPhone won’t backup to iCloud. So you can try to sign out your iCloud and then sign in again. This usually occurs when you have been using your iPhone’s same account for a long time, or you have upgraded your iPhone’s IOS. This will not affect your iPhone’s but will fix all the problems regarding the iCloud service.

3. Delete old iCloud Backups

If your iCloud storage is almost occupied by the existing backups, it will not accept new backups. So you can delete some backups on the iCloud so you will have more space for the new backup. You can do this through Settings -> iCloud -> Storage -> Manage Storage -> Select the backup you want to remove and tap Delete Backup.

4. Reset or restore your iPhone

If above methods do not work out, you might try resetting your iPhone or restore the device with iTunes. Before you do that, you should make sure you have backup of your iPhone and make sure you have installed the latest iTunes on your computer.

5 Backup iPhone to PC

If the issue still can’t be fixed, you might try another way to backup the iPhone. Backing up iPhone to the computer is a good choice. And iPhone Data Transfer can help backup everything to the computer, or you can make backup selectively. In this way, you will not come across the issue of iPhone won’t backup to iCloud.
